(formerly SOC 136) This course provides students with a basic understanding of development of the scientific study of crime. Emphasis is on the formation of the philosophies and theoretical orientations to crime causation. Attention is also given to the apprehension, court actions, punishment and treatment techniques related to the adult criminal. Some sections have a service learning component.
