(formerly NUR 105 RN) This is a bridge course for the Registered Nurse Undergraduate student. The course is open to Registered Nurses only. The history of the profession is examined to provide the student with a better understanding of current nursing leadership and practice (education, delivery and administration) in today's health care environment. Legal and ethical aspects of nursing, as well as the emergent role of the nurse advocate, HIPAA implications, and current issues are discussed to illustrate nurses' responsibility and accountability to their clients, their profession and themselves. This course focuses on professionalism. It is designed to help the RN synthesize previous learning and experience with new knowledge in order to develop a philosophy and an understanding of the nurse's professional role. (Only RN/Completion students may enroll in this course.) 3 credits
