An introduction to diatonic harmony, with emphasis on four-part writing and mastery of voice-leading skills; understanding of abstract harmonic principles and analytical abilities are also stressed. Following a brief review of theoretical basics, the focus is on major-minor triadic harmony, with reference to doubling, inversions, common progressions, resolution procedures, cadences, root movements, embellishing tones and seventh chords. Students should register for MUS 112 and 204 in the same semester. Prerequisite: MUS 101 and MUS 102. (Offered Fall) Fee- $70.00. 3 credits
