This course offers the student an introduction to the cultures of Italy from a variety of perspectives: its history, geography, society, arts, popular culture, folklore and political and value systems, its role as a member of the European Union, and, in a larger scope, its place in the global community. This course is an exploration of Italy that goes back in time in order to study its cultural origins and historical evolution and to analyze the factors that have made Italy what it is today. Prerequisite: ITA 305 or departmental approval. 3 credits
