This course focuses on teaching literacy skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing to students who are both native English speakers and English language learners. The goals of this course are to assist the teacher candidate in understanding the approaches and resources necessary to teach reading skills for the content areas, as well as how to apply remedial and enrichment reading techniques. A practical and theoretical framework for language acquisition, literacy and comprehension development will be presented with special emphasis on technology tools and personal experiences to enhance student performance. Through teacher-generated and student-generated topics, teacher candidates will learn to provide instruction for literary response and expression, critical analysis, and research. Prerequisite: EDU 329. Fee-$30.00. 3 credits
