An introduction to the elements of stage and scenic design. Through group and individual assignments, the course will prepare students to work in the areas of lighting design, sound design, reinforcement and recording, set and prop construction, scenic painting, stage management, as well as theatrical design and concept development. Two-point perspective, basic drawing skills, rendering, power and hand tools and sound and light board operation are some of the core skills presented with an emphasis on creativity, problem solving, communication and safety. 3 credits
