A course designed to introduce students to the sounds and script of Japanese, common phrases and rudimentary grammar. The course also provides an introduction to the culture of Japan. Four instructional hours plus one hour of laboratory practice in 101, and five instructional hours plus one hour of laboratory practice in 102. (Cr. 4, 5) For students with little or no background in Japanese.
