Application of the principles of chemical engineering to the design of chemical processes. The sequence of design methods and economic evaluations utilized in the evolution of a chemical process design, from initial process research to preliminary equipment design, is developed. Students work in three-person groups on a comprehensive plant design. Technical writing required. Two lectures and one two-hour problem period. Fall. Prerequisites: CHML 208, 305, 306, 321. Corequisite: CHML 423 (Cr. 3)
