Introduction to wireless communication systems, the cellular concept & trunking. Spread Spectrum Systems: direct sequence & frequency hopping. Multiple access techniques (FDMA, TDMA, CDMA), speech coding, Power Control. Techniques for mitigation of propagation impairments: equalization, diversity & channel coding. Analysis & design of systems following global standards & protocols for various wireless communication systems such as PCS, Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11), WiMax (IEEE 802.16), Mobile-Fi (IEEE 802.20), Bluetooth and mobile IP. Prerequisites: EECE 303, EECE 315. Corequisite: EECE 304.
