This course instructs the student in the practical application of statistical methods in the sciences. Topics include: introduction to statistical methodology and software, how to select appropriate statistical techniques for data description or hypothesis testing, how to analyze statistical output; how to design laboratory and field experiments, how to design sampling programs, and how to communicate the results of statistical analyses in oral, written, and graphical methods.
