A study of hazardous materials, chemicals, and substances that are encountered on nearly every worksite: what they are, how to identify them, and how they affect the body. The course progresses into how to work safely with and protect oneself from them, and to react to emergencies. Containment and clean up of spills is also discussed, as is medical surveillance and record keeping. Benzene hazards and petroleum spills and the regulatory requirements relating to them are given special attention. Rec. 3, Cr. 3.
