Introduction to the shipboard responsibilities of deck and engineering officers. Orientation and practical experience in watch standing and ship maintenance procedures; an overview of ship systems designed to assist the student in the selection of a major field of study in marine transportation or engineering. This course supports the marine license program requirements to meet the Standards for Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). The course may have embedded assessment requirements that must be completed in addition to the class requirements. Prerequisites for all majors include: Eg-101, Ns-101, Pe-114, participation in the Regiment; completion of the ship's Familiarization/Orientation Program; first year maintenance; fire training.
