An introductory course in modern biology covering the following topics: evolution and the diversification of life, including principles of taxonomy and diversity of form; function and structure of plants including transport, nutrition, sensory systems, reproduction, and defense; function and structure of animals including nutrition, digestion, gas exchange, circulation, excretion, chemical and electrical signals, reproduction, and the immune system; ecology, including behavior, population ecology, species interactions, community ecology, and ecosystems.
