Hunter Content: The diverse experiences of American women from the colonial era to the recent past. Changing ideologies from the colonial goodwife to the cult of true womanhood. Impact of Victorianism, sexuality and reproduction, the changing significance of women's work. Origins of the women's rights movement, battles and legacy of suffrage, history of 20th-century feminism, competing ideologies and experiences of difference. Prerequisite: None.
