Documentary Production and Editing is an advanced level production class in which students create an original, individually conceived documentary video. The course is an introduction to documentary theory and history, as well as project development, production, and editing techniques that are specific to television documentary. Students learn advanced techniques of shooting and editing including hand-held camera, audio and microphone techniques, field lighting, interviewing techniques, and documentary story structure. Students also learn how to develop voice and point-of-view as well as understand how to work within the various documentary genres. 4 CREDI TS PREREQUISITES: 40-2100 TELEVISION ARTS: WRITING, 40-2401 PRODUCTION AND EDITING II
