This course is an advanced level writing class with much time devoted to the development of analytic skills. The class will be broken up into two parts. The first will be an investigation of a variety of analytic methods. The second half will be spent examining a variety of genres and writing a series of outlines and script excerpts. The topics would include action/adventure, melodrama, drama, comedy, mystery, and science fiction. Each would be examined with examples drawn from both current and past television programming.
