Description:

The media--television, film, print--has a pervasive influence upon how we view the world. This course enables us to analyze subtle and subliminal messages about culture, race ethnicity, gender, religion, class, and ability as presented to us through the media. Through open discussions of difference, research, and stimulating readings, we will learn who we are and why we view things the way we do. Expected outcomes include new insights into media influence and our responsibility as media makers, a research project, and self-examination of personal cultural and racial identity. 3 CREDIT S
