Course is designed to facilitate the production and completion of a 5-8 minute film or video. Drawing from lectures, workshops, screenings, and discussion, students will be expected to produce a project that significantly surpasses their previous level of work. Students will also learn about distribution, film festivals, and taxes. Film production is built upon professional, productive working relationships; with this in mind, the emphasis of this course is on learning to be an effective collaborator. While employing skills learned in previous classes, students will collaborate with their teacher and their class in preproduction and script development. Further, students will collaborate with producing, cinematography, and sound students in creating an experienced crew. Students will be expected to pitch a concept, write a treatment and script, create a production book, then direct, edit, and mix their film.
