New Millennium Studies is grounded in interdisciplinary studies in the humanities and social sciences through its ongoing theme of identity and culture. The seminar explores and reshapes intersections between liberal arts disciplines and fields in media arts and visual/performing arts. Topics and texts are selected and studied in ways that will help Columbia students become more competent and confident readers, writers, thinkers, creators, and collaborators. This First-Year Seminar helps prepare students not just for their subsequent years at Columbia, but for their future lives and careers as responsible citizens and authors of the culture of their time. 3 CRED ITS
