This course examines the relationship between the written and filmed versions of a story, novel, or play. The course will explore how character development, plot, narrative, symbols, and language are translated from text to film. To facilitate analysis, students will acquire a basic vocabulary for discussing literature and film. African-American themes regarding socio-historical context, aesthetics, and critical theory will be examined.
