Course familiarizes students with schools as work places in which a teacher's career unfolds. Students examine the structure of teaching within the political, economic, and social context of the educational institution. Particular attention is given to the role of teacher in relation to issues of governance, organizational structure, funding, union relationships, community involvement, collegial relationships, and professional growth.
