Course is offered through the Columbia Arts/Florence Summer Program. Advanced level, undergraduate/graduate photography students will be offered an opportunity to explore contemporary life within a "medieval" urban environment and examinethe contrariety between 15th and 21st century value systems. Issues of cultural memory, enlightenment philosophies, global consumerism, and institutionalized tourism will be incorporated into the curriculum and be the emphasis of our studies and production. Documentary, as well as fabricated narrative approaches, will be encouraged and explored during the monthlong class. 3 CREDI TS
