This course is an introduction to photographic seeing and the visual grammar of photography. The class combines basic design problems, exercises in seeing elements of the medium, and the opportunity to do individual projects. A historical overview of the medium is presented, and critiques will examine both the meaning and technical/design proficiency of each student's work. Students will learn basic black and white darkroom skills, still the easiest and quickest way to produce excellent photographic prints. Film and darkroom materials supplied. 2 CREDI TS PREREQUISITES: STUDENTS MUST BE JUNIORS OR SENIORS
