This is a required class for Musical Theater Performance majors in the second semester of their first year. Course is the second half of a two-semester course continuing study of the history of the musical begun in Musical Theater I: From the Beginnings to 1945. Instruction covers development of musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein to the pop-operas and spectacles of the present. Content gives some attention to movie musicals and the introduction of shows and songs from each period through readings, recordings, and videos. Course is offered spring semester only. 2 CREDITS
