This is a harmony course with an emphasis on practical application. Material includes major and minor keys, the modes, inversions, voicing, harmonizing a melody, harmonic analysis, and extensive drill in recognizing and replicating triads and seventh cords. Students write chord progressions in four voices using diatonic and nondiatonic chords showing thorough voice-leading principles; effectively harmonize a melody with cadences, nonchord tones, root movements, and harmonic rhythm; and hear and identify harmonic progressions through dictation. 3 CREDITS PREREQUISITES: 32-1110 SIGHTSINGING, MUSICIANSHIP, AND EAR TRAINING I, 32-1120 THEORY, HARMONY, AND ANALYSIS I
