Workshop builds on the original science fiction class, focusing on writing skills and techniques unique to the genre. Students practice generating story ideas, tempering imagination with logic, thinking in terms of the future and its multiple possibilities, selecting appropriate characters, and constructing plausible plots. Readings include collected short stories of science fiction master Alfred Bester and individual works by Robert Heinlein, C.M.
