This course is designed to explore the global music industry. Students will travel to Cannes, France, to attend MIDEM, the world's largest international music marketplace. Through the A&R process, students will identify and select artists to represent at the conference. Students will create and implement a strategic plan for the artist that will require in-depth research of international markets, publications, Web sites, and global music industry organizations. At the MIDEM conference, students will seek global distribution, licensing, branding, and live performance partnerships for their artists. 2 CREDITS PREREQUISITES: 28-1110 INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT, 28-2411 APPLIED MARKETING: RECORDING INDUSTRY
