Students will develop the physical and perceptual skills basic to contact improvisation: falling, rolling, giving and taking weight, moving comfortably from the floor to the air and subtle communication through touch. Students will hone solo improvisational skills and take them into duet and ensemble dancing. The course will provide focused warm-ups designed to cultivate various physical states and motional qualities, skill development, and periods of open dancing in which to integrate technical skills. 1 CREDIT
