This course focuses on research and development of a new and innovative product. Students will do everything from market research and product definition to the creation of a professional-appearance model and a fully documented design database. The product must involve the design of a complex assembly, combining a variety of manufacturing processes. Students are responsible for researching every aspect of the project and for developing a clear budget for all tooling costs for materials. Course includes field trips to manufacturers and the presentation of case studies of complete development cycles. 3 CREDITS PREREQUISITES: 22-2710 PRODUCT DESIGN III: PRODUCT SEMANTICS, 22-2715 ADVANCED CAD FOR PRODUCT DESIGN
