Course examines the design of intermediate level mechanical parts and assemblies within 3-D solid parametric software. Students learn to create complex geometry through the use of lofts and sweeps. Students study in greater detail what goes into the construction of manufactured parts and approach the process of computer-aided design from a systematic point of view. Explorations of design databases and complex rendering techniques are also a key component of the course. 3 CREDITS PREREQUISITIES: 22-1710 INTRODUCTION TO CAD FOR PRODUCT DESIGN OR 35-1100 FOUNDATIONS OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS OR
