Course introduces the history of art from the Renaissance to the Modern period. European art of the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, and Romantic eras will be studied, as will the artistic movements of the 19th and 20th centuries. The art of Africa, the Americas, and Asia during the same time period may also be surveyed. Students will gain an appreciation of the aesthetic values of these cultures and an understanding of the historical, socio-political, religious, and other contexts for the creation of art works. This is a continuation of "History of Art I: Stone Age to Gothic," but can be takenindependently. 3 CREDITS PREREQUISITES: 22-1101 HISTORY OF ART I: STONE AGE TO GOTHIC
