Credits: 4 Prerequisite: none Specialization in Public Health is an opportunity and challenge for nurses who will grapple with designing new ways to improve the health of Americans and populations internationally. This course is designed to raise the consciousness of nurses to the emergence of modern-day epidemics, biological threats, increasing vulnerable populations and the complex challenges that these issues present to the health-care team. Students will observe Public Health activities at the state or county level and identify the new role of the nurse in Public Health and disaster preparedness.
