Credit: 4 Prerequisite: none This course provides an explanation of how the banking industry operates, both within the U.S. and internationally, the history of the U.S. monetary system, and an overview of Federal laws, regulations and statutes as they relate to financial institutions. Topics covered include the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), the Sarbanes-Oxley Act; the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the USA PATRIOT Act governing banks and other financial institutions. Developing an acute comprehension and application of these sources is vital to conducting financial investigations. Upon completion of this course, students will have developed a detailed understanding of the U.S. banking system and the laws and regulations governing the banking industry.
