Patterns of deviancy in youths, with particular emphasis on roles and relationships of the family, school, and peer groups; theories of causation and influence of middle-class culture on deviancy. Students will demonstrate an understanding of: 1) social and individual dynamics; 2) the relevance of multicultural studies to contemporary public issues; 3) how societal and social structural factors influence individual behavior and the development of the self.
