This course reviews the philosophy and rationale for the teaching of language arts to young children, including receptive and expressive, visual and auditory experience, vocabulary development and enrichment. Focus is on the development of language skills of young children with attention to the influence of culture in language. Strategies include how to develop a language-rich environment at the early childhood level that includes oral language, writing and reading activities, and development. Requirement: 6 hours of O&P Prerequisites: Pass Praxis I, ED220, ED221, ED222, ED223, ED320
