This course provides an introduction to the field of commercial music. This course presents an overview of the musical materials of American popular culture, and explores all musical elements required for a basic knowledge of writing and performing in the modern idiom. It focuses on popular musical forms, jingles, advertising, TV, and film. Orchestration skills are gained through a study of both acoustic and electronic musical instruments.
