This course is the second part of a two-semester course sequence with MAT 171. This course is designed for prospective preschool and elementary school teachers. The contents of this course are concepts and theories underlying elementary school mathematics. The students will explore the "why" behind the mathematical concepts, ideas, and procedures. Topics include rational and real numbers, introduction to algebra, Euclidean and solid geometry, statistics, and probability . Prerequisites : MAT 171. This course is not open to mathematics majors.
