The detailed study of electromagnetic theory using methods of vector field theory and partial differential equations. Topics include: the electrostatic field in vacuum and in matter, magnetic fields and magnetic materials, electromagnetic forces and induction, Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic radiation with applications. The course includes laboratory study of electrostatic fields in dielectric and conducting media. Prerequisite or Corequisite: PHY 341. Offered on demand.
