Focuses on African origins and traditions, patterns of slavery, work, religion, freedom, resistance, and civil rights. The course will also highlight the cultural heritage of African American music, literature, and film. Prerequisites: HIS 120 and HIS 121, or consent of instructor. Spring, even years.
