A study and discussion of significant plays ranging from the late 19th century to the present, with focus on the establishment of realism as a norm, the reactions to realism, and the eclecticism of drama today. Works by African, African-American, Asian-American, Latino, and Native American playwrights will be studied. Research paper will be required. Same as THE 350. Satisfies intercultural exploratory requirement. Prerequisite: ENG 118 or THE 125 or consent of instructor. Fall, even academic years.
