An introduction to the fundamental concepts of organic chemistry. Topics include: chemical bonding, nomenclature, alkanes, alcohols, alkyl halides, alkenes, stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms, alkynes, and ethers. The laboratory will cover introduction to organic laboratory techniques. Lecture 3 hours/Lab 3 hours weekly. Prerequisite: Grade of "C-" or better in SC 221.
