While the course introduces a range of health issues, assigned readings and student projects focus on a cluster of specific topics. These topics may include, among others: health-related ethical issues; the global burden of disease; acute and chronic diseases; epidemiology; social and cultural determinants of health; population-based health; health and the environment; sexually transmitted diseases; and the U.S. healthcare system.
