0.5 course An interdisciplinary, introductory investigation into the nature of scientific inquiry. Emphasis on the interrelated nature of science. Studies of major ideas in the different sciences. Distinctions made between science and nonscience. Study of different methods of scientific investigation, including experimentation, comparative analysis and observation. The use of probability, statistics, graphical analysis and modeling in the sciences are explored. Students are introduced to questions dealing with the philosophy of science and the role of ethics in science. Open only to students in the Science Research Fellows Program.
