Native conflict and displacement, religious radicalism, Revolutionary fervor, slavery, abolitionism and whaling are all part of the heritage of New London and the history of the United States. Using the example of New London and the methodology of microhistory, this course will move from the particular to the general to illuminate the colonial and antebellum history of the United States.
