Introduction to the biology of plants, with emphasis on their importance, currently and historically. Topics will include characteristics of major plant groups, internal and external controls of growth and development, ecology of native vegetation, plant uses in horticulture, ethno-botany, and modern uses of plants for food and medicine, including genetically modified plants.
