Theory and use of the scanning electron microscope, sample preparation and x-ray microanalysis. Concentrated research on original research projects. Six hours of combined lecture and laboratory group or tutorial work weekly during the second half of the semester; two hours of credit. Not intended for majors in biological sciences or botany.
