Through ethnographic studies, this course explores European communities and institutions within the context of European integration, post-colonialism and post-communism. Topics include the construction of identity, the negotiation of modernity and tradition, changing gender roles, marginalization, race, class, ethnicity, embodiment and the politics of reproduction.
