This course examines the importance of place in anthropological thinking and people's experience of space. It will first discuss the development of anthropology as a discipline that identifies a people and a place to a culture. It will then analyze issues of identity and politics in relation to space by focusing on the embodiment of space, transnational space and globalization, space and domination.
