Management of companion animals will be addressed in a comparative fashion, from the perspectives of physiology, anatomy, nutrition, genetics, reproduction and behavior. Interrelationships among these disciplines in the care and wellbeing of companion animals will be emphasized. Normal and aberrant behaviors will be described and techniques of behavior modification and pharmacological intervention will be discussed. To allow in-depth coverage of these topics, the course will be limited to dogs, cats and caged birds. Pre: 2464. (3H,3 Credits).
