Prerequisite: CHEM 304. Introduction to the basic spectroscopic techniques of organic chemistry and biochemistry: infrared spectrophotometry, id proton and carbon NMR spectrometry, and mass spectrometry, with some discussion of UV/visible spectrophotometry and 2D NMR spectrometry. Identification of organic compounds using individual and combined spectroscopic evidence. Two hours of lecture per week.
